Propiciar la acci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica<\/h2>\n

La Iniciativa Clim\u00e1tica de M\u00e9xico (ICM) presenta una serie de insumos t\u00e9cnicos, desde la sociedad civil, para actualizar y aumentar la ambici\u00f3n de la NDC 2020. ICM ha generado informaci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica -basada en ciencia- y un proceso colaborativo para recoger las diversas visiones e insumos de algunos actores dentro de la amplia diversidad de la sociedad civil, la\u00a0 academia y el sector privado.<\/p>\n

En este sitio, podr\u00e1 encontrar recursos relacionados con las medidas identificadas que forman parte del conjunto de acciones propuestas para que M\u00e9xico pueda hacer frente a la grave emergencia clim\u00e1tica que el planeta enfrenta.<\/p>\n

\u00bfQu\u00e9 son las NDC?<\/h2>\n

Las NDC (Contribuciones Determinadas a nivel Nacional, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s \u2013 Nationally Determined Contributions) son las metas que M\u00e9xico, al igual que otros 174 pa\u00edses, comprometieron en el Acuerdo de Par\u00eds (2016) para reducir sus emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI). Estos compromisos fueron adquiridos de manera voluntaria, teniendo como base el principio de equidad y considerando las circunstancias y capacidades de cada pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

Las NDC detallan los esfuerzos para reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) nacionales y para adaptarse a los efectos del cambio clim\u00e1tico. Las NDC son, por lo tanto, el coraz\u00f3n de la acci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica a nivel global.<\/strong><\/p>\n

El Acuerdo de Par\u00eds compromete a los pa\u00edses firmantes a actualizar su NDC cada 5 a\u00f1os y a incrementar la ambici\u00f3n o alcance de las metas establecidas en mitigaci\u00f3n y adaptaci\u00f3n para lograr la reducci\u00f3n significativa de emisiones y reducir la vulnerabilidad de las poblaciones m\u00e1s expuestas a los impactos del cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n

#PodemosHacerM\u00e1s<\/h2>\n

Durante la pasada cumbre del clima, COP 27, el gobierno de M\u00e9xico increment\u00f3 la meta de reducci\u00f3n de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) de nuestro pa\u00eds, para el a\u00f1o 2030. Mediante una actualizaci\u00f3n del componente de mitigaci\u00f3n de la Contribuci\u00f3n Nacionalmente Determinada (NDC), se plantea reducir 35 por ciento de las emisiones con respecto al escenario tendencial, de manera no condicionada, y 40 por ciento si se cuenta con mayor apoyo internacional.<\/p>\n

Estos compromisos son de gran relevancia ya que M\u00e9xico es uno de los 12 pa\u00edses con m\u00e1s emisiones de GEI en el mundo. Adem\u00e1s, 68 por ciento de la poblaci\u00f3n de nuestro pa\u00eds y 59 por ciento de los municipios se encuentran en condiciones de alta y muy alta vulnerabilidad ante este fen\u00f3meno.<\/p>\n

La acci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica se torna esencial en este contexto, no s\u00f3lo para contribuir al cumplimiento de los compromisos internacionales de nuestro pa\u00eds ante el Acuerdo de Par\u00eds, sino para proteger a las poblaciones vulnerables de los peores impactos del cambio clim\u00e1tico y transitar de manera justa hacia una econom\u00eda baja en emisiones de GEI.<\/p>\n

Es por esto que es necesario tomar acciones ambiciosas de mitigaci\u00f3n de manera inmediata, que reduzcan las emisiones de GEI de manera suficiente para encaminar a nuestros pa\u00eds en la ruta de los 1.5oC y emisiones netas cero para 2050.<\/p>\n

La Iniciativa Clim\u00e1tica de M\u00e9xico (ICM) ofrece una serie de conferencias virtuales en torno a la Contribuci\u00f3n Determinada a Nivel Nacional desde la Sociedad Civil (NDC SC) publicada por ICM en noviembre de 2022 que busca generar conciencia sobre la importancia de actuar -inmediatamente- para reducir -al m\u00e1ximo- las emisiones de CO2 que calientan el planeta y provocan efectos ambientales, sociales y econ\u00f3micos terribles en todos los habitantes pero, sobre todo, en las poblaciones en condiciones de vulnerabilidad y pobreza.<\/p>\n

NDC-Sociedad Civil<\/h2>\n

Iniciativa Clim\u00e1tica de M\u00e9xico (ICM) presenta su propuesta de contenido para una Contribuci\u00f3n Determinada a nivel Nacional (NDC, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s [Nationally Determined Contribution]) de M\u00e9xico (en adelante NDC-Sociedad Civil [NDC-SC]). El objetivo de la propuesta es ofrecer insumos t\u00e9cnicos, desde la sociedad civil, para actualizar y ampliar la NDC presentada por el pa\u00eds en el a\u00f1o 2020 como parte de los esfuerzos para el cumplimiento del Art\u00edculo 2 del Acuerdo de Par\u00eds (CMNUCC, 2016) relativo a los objetivos de largo plazo, as\u00ed como del Art\u00edculo 4, para su cumplimiento a trav\u00e9s de las NDC, y en respuesta a la decisi\u00f3n 1\/CP.21 (CMNUCC, 2015) en sus p\u00e1rrafos del 23 al 25 de la Conferencia Marco de Naciones Unidas sobre Cambio Clim\u00e1tico (CMNUCC) relativos a la implementaci\u00f3n del Acuerdo.<\/p>\n

En esta NDC-SC se incluye una lista condensada de las acciones prioritarias en mitigaci\u00f3n que sustentan el compromiso de reducci\u00f3n, con un costo-beneficio y madurez tecnol\u00f3gica que permiten su implementaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Emisiones por sectores<\/strong>
En l\u00ednea con los esfuerzos de proponer una NDC desde la Sociedad Civil, siguiendo las buenas pr\u00e1cticas de transparencia, ponemos a disposici\u00f3n los datos de emisiones de di\u00f3xido de carbono equivalente (CO2<\/sub>e) correspondientes a cada uno de los sectores analizados, para los escenarios base, no condicionado y condicionado.<\/p>\n

\u00bfQu\u00e9 oportunidad representa la NDC-SC para M\u00e9xico?<\/h2>\n

NDC-SC representa una gama muy grande de oportunidades que se pueden materializar con la voluntad pol\u00edtica de los diferentes niveles de gobierno y la participaci\u00f3n amplia de la sociedad civil, las comunidades, pueblos ind\u00edgenas, juventudes, sector privado y academia.<\/p>\n

NDC-SC aporta elementos t\u00e9cnicos y muestra que una NDC m\u00e1s ambiciosa es t\u00e9cnica, econ\u00f3mica y jur\u00eddicamente posible en las condiciones en las que M\u00e9xico se encuentra hoy en d\u00eda. Es decir, no se necesita ni m\u00e1s desarrollo tecnol\u00f3gico, ni m\u00e1s financiamiento ni modificaciones en el marco legal, todo puede realizarse con la tecnolog\u00eda que existe y a un precio asequible.<\/p>\n

ICM ha generado informaci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica (basada en ciencia) y un proceso participativo para recoger las diversas visiones e insumos de algunos actores dentro de la amplia diversidad de la sociedad civil, la academia y el sector privado.
